Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer's Disease:

1. Misplacing things- He or she may put things in inappropriate places - an iron in the freezer or a wristwatch in a sugar bowl.

2. Disorientation as to time and place- The person with A.D. may get lost on his or her own street and forget how he or she got there or how to get home.

3.Recent memory loss that affects job performance. People with AD forget often, never recall, and repeatedly ask the same question, forgetting the earlier answer.

4. Difficulty performing familiar tasks- A person with AD might prepare a meal, forget to eat or serve it, and even forget that he or she had made it.

5. Problems with language- The person with AD may forget simple words or use inappropriate words making speech incomprehensible.

6. Poor or weaker judgment- For example, anyone might get distracted and fail to watch a child. A person with AD, however, might entirely forget the child under her or his care and leave the house.

7.Personality changes- The person with AD may experience drastic and inappropriate personality changes, becoming uncharacteristically irritable, suspicious or fearful.

8. Loss of initiative- They may become passive and reluctant to get involved in activities.

9. Changes in mood or behavior- they can have rapid mood swings- from calm to tears, to anger within a few minutes.

10.Problems with abstract thinking- A person with AD might completely forget what numbers are and what needs to be done with them.

Here are some recommendations:

Diet high in anti-oxidant. Gingko Biloba extract or capsules as they act as an antioxidant and increase blood flow to the brain.

The report made by the Americal Journal of Medical Association in 1977 showed that Gingko Biloba can stabilize, and in some cases improve the mental functioning and social behavior of people with Alzheimer's disease. Include high fiber in your diet.
Vitamin B-12 injections- dementia can be caused by Vit B-12 deficiency.

Regular exercise throughout the adulthood can reduce the chances of developing Alzheimer's disease such as biking (not for men for their prostate as it cause impotence), walking, swimming, golf, and dancing. Have your homocysteine level check. The higher the level you would be a candidate for a stroke or heart attack as well as Alzheimer's disease.

A decline in the sense of smell often occurs as much as two years prior to the beginning of a mental decline in people with Alzheimer's disease. Using your brain, remaining busy, writing, reading,and learning new things are important overall factors in staying sharp and preventing mental disorders.
